C oworker just picked his up. Mine is still 2-4 weeks out. Not going to lie it looks kinda good for a work van . Last year they were dishing out church vans with all the windows. I much prefer this with the steel panels. I’ll just be happy to get the heap of Ram poo out of my driveway.

When you replace a ten year o ld Van design with one that is twenty years old. Not gonna lie, Promasters and their european cousins are garbage though.

On one hand I’m glad you’ll no longer be in that ridiculous van.
On the other hand I’ll miss the content.

It’s a bad day when you buy a GM because it is so damn reliable

I actually stopped posting about its failures it was just getting old had the headlights replaced last week and I mean the whole headlight assemblies and they're already full of water.

There is a non-zero chance it’ll be worse that the promaster. Not a likely chance, but there is a chance.

I second this.

I enjoy seeing them, though I think you’ll have trouble ever topping this:

I would love it if you would do a full breakdown (pun intended) of it’s failures over the years once it has left you.

These things are bulletproof. 6.0 and the 6L80 combo is a nuclear-winter surviving drivetrain.

These are great at burnouts

Good upgrade!

Well, this one will run for ever and likely require little maintenance. However, it will rust away to nothing by the time it sees its 10th birthday. All in all, I call it a good switch.
5.3 or did you get lucky and end up with a 6.0.

Think they’re only offered in 4.8, 6.o & maybe diesel.

Although I much prefer the Transit, I think you’ll be happy with this van. Least it shouldn’t give you any problems.

Are the Transits problematic? My brother has had a 3.7 V6 powered one for three years now which he bought used from Enterprise and its been pretty good to him.

This. This is good oppo.
I feel bad for you I really trul y do, but it’s just so absurdly bad that I can’t look away.

I've never had a GM that didn't make it AT LEAST 200K miles. Yeah, they were pretty rough by then, but the drivetrains were rock solid.

When my brother was looking for a van for his marine service business he wanted an Econoline or Express but I got him looking at the Eurovans. We were in agreement that the Promaster wouldn’t be in the running because FCA, and FWD (no good for towing boats up a ramp). He ended up in a Transit and its been reliable.

Yeah, that would likely help.

If somebody hasn’t made that into a Kinja’d gif, that needs to happen.

Mone will have the high strung v6 mated to a 10 speed...

I have 90% of the receipts this is a good idea. I'll have to fudge the nubers on headlights since I bought those on the corp cards.

Nope gaser v6 mated to a 8 speed. 1st year it’s available.. going to be great I tell ya

4.3L V6 engine (276/298 lb.-ft.) Mated to an 8 speed.
Doubt mine will. Once i have it fully loaded with a couple thousand pounds of kit/tools it won't get out of its own way.

None of us will be able to check for accuracy, so fudge away :)

Oh very cool! Enjoy.

Barf. Didn’t think they’d bother putting that in a 2500.

While it’s a 4.3 with an 8 speed, I haven’t heard anything terrible about them. We have an ‘03ish one at work with a 6.0/80E that’s been totally indestructible. It just hit 14,000 miles- which is impressive when you consider it rarely leaves the flightline where it drags aircraft engines around, idles constantly, hauls buttloads of tools and gets beat on regularly to “blow the carbon out”... The LQ9 6.0 feels pretty snappy in the light van compared to the LQ4 in my behemoth Suburban.

Glad you are rid of that headache. I've been looking at adventure vans and a lot of people use the Promaster, likely due to it being a good size and price, but I just keep thinking of your experiences . . .

No, the transits are not problematic
